Statue Of General Carlo Di Robilante

This is the statue of general Carlo Di Robilante at piazza Cavour.
Carlo Felice Nicolis di Robilant Count, known simply as Earl of Robilant or Robilant (Turin, August 8, 1826 - London, 17 October 1888) was a diplomat, general and Italian politician.

He was ambassador in Vienna from 1871 to 1885; period in which proved decisive for the conclusion of the triple alliance between Italy, Germany and Austria.

From 1885 to 1887 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs and as such contributed in 1887 to renew the Triple Alliance, obtaining the commitment of Germany to support Italy in a possible war in the Mediterranean. On the same occasion it obtained the commitment from Austria to Italy to recognize territorial compensation in the event of Austrian expansion in the Balkans.

The same year concluded with Great Britain, Austria and Spain, the specific arrangements for the protection of Italian interests in the Mediterranean, completing an intensive political and diplomatic work that protects probably Italy from any threat.
